New Numismatic Department 3/30/2009 - Bumps Dents & Scratches - When we purchase a complete coin collection we buy all the coins offered and do not cherry pick the lot. Occasionally there are some coins in the lot that have some type of a blemish or problem. This could be a rim ding, scratch, or perhaps a stain. It has always been our policy to list these coins at a reduced price, within their respective series. By listing them that way a collector could see what was available by date when ordering, and could decide just how nice, or how much they wanted to spend, when filling in some empty spaces in their coin collection.

In recent months we have had a number of requests to single out these coins for those individuals that are not so particular when assembling a series of coins as they are more concerned with price than quality. Because of these request Jake’s Marketplace, Inc. has launched a new coin department called “Bumps, Dents or Scratches.” These are those coins that would have sold at a much higher price if they did not have some kind of problem.

So, if you are looking for coins at a greatly reduced price, be sure to take a look at what we have listed, and be sure to bookmark this page and return occasionally. These less-expensive coins are a great way to educate a young numismatist about the obsolete coins our country had issued years and years ago.

Yes there are still coins with problems listed within their respective series as it would be to time consuming to transfer them all at this time, but all new coins with a “Bump, Dent or Scratch will now be listed in this new coin department.

Harris 3-ring binder #H1799 Special Discounts 11/4/2008 - Because of the way these albums were packed in the carton during shipping some of them picked up some minor blemishes like small corner bumps or bruises and possibly some surface scuffing from rubbing against one-and-another in the carton.

.gif of a Whitman Classic coin album #2477 for the First Spouse (Presidential) Medals New Product 10/9/09 - Whitman has issued a new Classic coin album titled, First Spouse
(Presidential) Medals Album.
Here is the information about these medals: The Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005 made provisions for $10 Gold Bullion coins representing the first spouses to correspond with the release of the Presidential Dollars. To make these designs accessible to more people, Congress also approved the striking of bronze medals that "bear the likeness of the bullion coins." Once the gold coin is designed, adjustments are made for the bronze medal series. The medals are not legal tender and elements are not replicated. For instance, the date of issue, the motto, the legend, and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA do not appear on the medals. The focus is on the art, a first spouse and the emblematic theme reminiscent of a presidency.
